PowerShaper Monitor is a service provided by the Society for the Reduction of Carbon Ltd, trading as Carbon Co-op (the “Organisation”).

Our Data Protection Register number is ZA520021. We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer as we have determined that we are not required to do so. However, if you have specific concerns relating to data protection you can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and this will be directed to the most appropriate member of staff. Carbon Co-op is a non-profit membership organisation and was created to support its members in making substantial reductions in their household Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions (the specific target being a reduction of 80% by 2050) and to carry on any trade, industry or business for the benefit of the community which promotes and supports the development of carbon reduction measures, focusing on but not limited to energy demand reduction and renewable energy supply. All profits are reinvested in the organisation.
We aim to use and promote high standards of data privacy and information security in the delivery of our services and products to our members, customers, and clients.
You have a set of rights in relation to personal information we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 2018. You can find out more about this on the website of the Information Commissioners Office. These rights include but are not limited to:
- The right to withdraw consent at any time (where relevant i.e. you have previously given your consent to us for data processing).
- The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in this case ICO).
Below we outline the purposes for which we process individual personal data and their lawful basis.
Personal information we collect
As a visitor of the site
We do not collect any personal information relating to your use of the Site. For analytic purposes we use the privacy-focussed Plausible service which allows us to track the usage of the website without collecting any personal data or personally identifiable information.
As a customer of the PowerShaper Monitor Service
When you subscribe to the service or attempt to subscribe to the service through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, postcode, email address and electricity supply number (MPAN).
Payment information including credit/debit card details and billing address are not collected or processed by Carbon Co-op directly, but are handled by our payment processor Stripe.
We refer to this information as “Subscription Information”.
This information is collected in order to provide you with the PowerShaper Monitor Service under contract. We retain this information for a period of up to 3 years after the conclusion of our contractual relationship with you.
How do we use your personal information?
We use the Subscription Information that we collect generally to provide access to your smart meter data and the PowerShaper Monitor service (including processing your payment information, providing login credentials, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Subscription Information to:
- Communicate with you;
- Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and if you have provided consent for marketing communications;
- Provide you with information by email relating to our products or services.You can withdraw your consent and remove yourself from our email lists at any time. Every email includes a link which enables you to remove yourself from the email list permanently.
Sharing your personal information
We share your Personal Information with third parties only to provide the services as described above. We will not share your details with other companies for their marketing purposes.
Your electricity supply number is the only personal information which we will share with n3rgy, our smart meter data intermediary, solely for the purpose of obtaining access to your consumption data. Upon sign-up you will be directed to the n3rgy portal where you can see the full terms and conditions for their service.
Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and lawful requests for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.
Accessing personal information
You have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact details provided below.
We note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example subscribing to the PowerShaper Monitor service through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above.
When you make a subscription through the Site, we will maintain your Subscription Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.This does not include information which we are required to retain as part of our contractual obligations.
